Overview:

Inobits has taken the lead in the migration of K2.net 2003 platforms to the K2 blackpearl™ environment. Inobits has developed the Inobits Migration Toolset for K2 to assist organizations to successfully migrate from their existing K2 operating environments to their new K2 environments.

The toolset includes 4 different utilities that can be used to address the different migration interventions. The toolset accelerates the migration process exponentially and cut down substantially on the time and effort needed to execute a typical migration from the previous K2.net 2003 environment to the latest version of K2 blackpearl™. Below is an illustration that outlines the migration environment and the application of the Inobits Migration Toolset for K2:

The Inobits Migration Helper utilities can be used to supplement the SourceCode K2.net 2003 to Blackpearl migration utility for the following cases:

1) You have InfoPath integrated processes. Your K2.net 2003 InfoPath Web Services are running on your old K2.net 2003 server and you wish to retire your old K2.net 2003 server after migration.

2) Additional Migrations are needed in conjunction with the K2.net 2003 to K2 blackpearl™ migration, for example:

• You have InfoPath integrated processes and wish to move the InfoPath form library to another server.
• You have Processes and Forms that depend on Web Services you wish to move to a different server.
• You have references to assemblies in your K2 Processes which depend on migrated services.
• You have String Table values, Worklist Item URLS, Process Data Values etc. which point to migrated services.

DB-Migration-Utility
With this utility you can replace old values with new values in the K2 and K2LOG databases. Active (In-Flight) and New Process Instances will immediately be able to use new values e.g. for URL’s stored in String Tables, Worklist Item URL’s, Field MetaData

XSN-Fix-Utility
With this utility you can update the InfoPath Template (XSN) with new values for Secondary Data Sources and Connection String to K2 Server Existing InfoPath XML files linked to client events and New Process Instances started from InfoPath will immediately be able to use new values e.g. URL’s for data sources to web services and connection string to the K2 server.

K2-Data-Changer-Utility
With this utility to can replace old values in Process Data Fields (Active Process Instances) and/or Activity Data Fields with new values e.g. URL’s in Process Data Fields and Activity Data Fields. Active (In-Flight) Process Instances will immediately be able to use the new values. This is very important if you have InfoPath processes and you moved the InfoPath Forms to a new SharePoint Server, since the URL to the temp XML file to delete after the Activity completes is held in an Activity Data Field.

K2-Assembly-Replace-Utility
With this utility you can replace Assemblies for Active Process Instances in the K2 Database with new specified assemblies. Active (In-Flight) and New Process Instances will immediately be able to use the new Assemblies e.g. if URL’s were hard-coded in assemblies.
